COSMOS 42 Part I: HOAG'S OBJECT

from COSMOS 42 by V@PYD

/

about

Hoag's Object is a non-typical galaxy of the type ring galaxy. The galaxy is named after Arthur Hoag who discovered it in 1950 and identified it as a peculiar galaxy with eight billion stars, spanning roughly 100,000 light years. Many of the details about the galaxy and its evolution remain a mystery. What really seems like a crazy coincidence is the fact that, through the void between the core and the ring, another ring galaxy can be seen behind it. Those a posed to be rare. Like, what?
