COSMOS 42 Part III: BOÖTES VOID

from COSMOS 42 by V@PYD

about

At nearly 330 million light-years in diameter, or nearly 236,000 mega-parsec in volume, the Boötes void is one of the largest-known voids in the Universe, and is referred to as a supervoid. Not to be confused with actor Jon Voight, who is just a super Voight.

There are no major apparent inconsistencies between the existence of the Boötes void and the Lambda-CDM model of cosmological evolution. It has been theorized that the Boötes void was formed from the merger of smaller voids. Again: John Voight was not one of them (I really hope you are reading this out loud, because the joke works way better phonetically...).

Boötes void has been often associated with images of Barnard 68, a dark nebula that does not allow light to pass through; however, the images of Barnard 68 are much darker than those observed of Boötes void, as the nebula is much closer and there are fewer stars in front of it, as well as being a physical mass that blocks light passing through. So basically, you'd have to be an idiot to confuse the two and use a picture of Barnard 68 when referring to Boötes void... Am I rambling? You try killing time while a file this length uploads then! :p ;D xD
